Mt. Adatara, located in the center of Fukushima Prefecture, is an active volcano at an altitude of 1,700m, which is selected as one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. From the summit, you can see Mt. Bandai and the Azuma mountain range, and it is crowded with many climbers, especially during the autumn foliage season. Numanodaira, an explosion crater, is a highlight that gives you a sense of the wildness of volcanic activity. Hot springs such as Dake Onsen are dotted at the foot of the mountain, and you can enjoy a hot spring after climbing. A ropeway is also available, so even beginners can easily aim for the summit.
