Kunimiyama (563.7m above sea level), located in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, is one of the “100 Famous Mountains of Utsukushima” and is a popular mountain among locals. On the mountainside, Kunimiyama Forest Park is maintained, and from the observation deck in the park, you can see a magnificent panorama overlooking Minamisoma city, Matsukawaura, and the vast Pacific Ocean. If the weather is good, you can even see as far away as Kinkasan in Miyagi Prefecture.
In April 2024, after recovering from the earthquake, the forest roads and observation decks will reopen, making it even easier to access. Mountain trails have also been developed, so people of all abilities can enjoy hiking, from beginners to experienced hikers. It is used by many people as a spot where they can enjoy the spectacular views while enjoying the nature of the four seasons.
