This is a live camera installed at Akagi Tunnel of 1000 Cherry Blossoms, Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura, in Naegashimamachi, Maebashi, Gunma, at the southern foot of Mt. Akagi. You can see the southern foot of Mt. Akagi and the cherry blossoms. It is operated by the Maebashi Tourism and Convention Association. Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura is one of the “100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots” selected by the Japan Cherry Blossom Association, a public interest incorporated foundation. Approximately 1,400 cherry trees are planted along the approximately 3.5 km road from National Route 353 to Chuji Onsen, including the adjacent “Miyagi Senbonzakura Forest Park”.
The Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura Festival is held every spring. During the Akagi Nanmen Senbonzakura Festival, the approximately 1.3 km long row of cherry trees will be in full bloom, and you can stroll through a tunnel of cherry blossoms. At night, the area is lit up, allowing you to enjoy the fantastic night cherry blossoms. In addition, the park also hosts events such as the Fureai Bussan Market, where local gourmet food and specialty products are lined up, and stage performances, attracting many visitors.
Akagi Minamimen Senbonzakura can be accessed by car in about 30 minutes from the Isesaki IC on the Kita-Kanto Expressway, or about 40 minutes from the Akagi IC on the Kan’etsu Expressway. By public transport, it is about a 20-minute taxi ride from Ogo Station on the Jomo Electric Railway. On weekends during the cherry blossom festival, a paid shuttle bus also operates from the south exit of JR Maebashi Station.
The parking lot can accommodate about 1,000 cars, but during the festival a fee is charged and it can get very crowded.
