Lake Shikotsu is the northernmost ice-free lake in Japan, located in Chitose, Hokkaido, and is the second deepest caldera lake in Japan with a maximum depth of about 363m. It has very high transparency and has been ranked “No. 1 in Japan” many times in the Ministry of the Environment’s lake water quality survey. The surrounding area is designated as Shikotsu-Toya National Park, and is surrounded by rich nature, where you can enjoy activities such as canoeing and sightseeing boats.
