“Takino Suzuran Hillside Park” is the only national park in Hokkaido. With a vast area of about 400 hectares, you can enjoy nature in every season. From spring to autumn, there are various attractions such as a vast flower field, “Children’s Valley” with large playground equipment, and three waterfalls including “Ashiribetsu Falls” which was selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan.
The flower field of the National Takino Suzuran Hillside Park is attractive for the variety of flowers that decorate the vast area. In spring, 230,000 tulips of 120 varieties decorate the Country Garden, and the highlights include the rainbow-inspired Rainbow Hill and the mosaic art-like Color Hill. The lily of the valley, from which the park takes its name, also reaches its best viewing season in early June. Different flowers bloom with each season, such as lavender and salvia in summer, and cosmos, kochia, and dahlias in autumn, and you can enjoy them along with the majestic scenery that is typical of Hokkaido.
