Suwanosejima is an inhabited island located in Toshima-mura, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is part of the Tokara Islands. It has an area of 27.66 square kilometers and is characterized by the volcanic activity of Mt. Ontake (799 meters above sea level). The island has a population of about 50 people and its main industries are fishing and agriculture. Its warm climate and rich nature make it an attractive place to enjoy hiking and nature observation. Regular ferries connect it to Kagoshima Port, and access is only by boat.
