Sarushima Island is the only natural island in Tokyo Bay, located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is an uninhabited island with an area of about 5.5 hectares, and is located about 10 minutes by boat from Yokosuka Chuo Station. On the island, there are remains of a fortress built from the end of the Edo period to before World War II, and it is designated as a national historic site. Blessed with rich nature, you can enjoy leisure activities such as swimming, barbecuing and fishing. In 1995, it was transferred from the national government to Yokosuka City, and is now maintained as “Sarushima Park”, a popular spot visited by about 180,000 tourists a year.
