About Mie Prefecture

Mie Prefecture is located on the border between the Kinki and Tokai regions, and its prefectural capital is Tsu City. As of September 1, Reiwa 7, the estimated population was 1,695,415, and as of July 1, Reiwa 7, the area was 5,774.48 square kilometers. The northern part of the prefecture includes urban areas such as Yokkaichi and Kuwana; the inland region features the Iga Basin; the eastern part is bordered by Ise Bay; and the southern part stretches along the coast of Ise-Shima and the Kumano Coast.
