Takabocchi Plateau is a plateau located in the eastern part of Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, at an altitude of 1,665m. It features a 360-degree panoramic view, and you can enjoy magnificent views of the Northern Alps, Lake Suwa, the Southern Alps, and Mt. Fuji. It is particularly famous for the sea of clouds that can be seen in the mornings from mid-October to mid-December, and is said to be the most beautiful 30 minutes before and after sunrise. From spring to autumn, you can enjoy the scenery of alpine plants and grazing dairy cows, and a campsite is also available.
Takabocchi Plateau is known as one of the “sacred places” of the hit movie “Your Name” directed by Makoto Shinkai. It is said that the model for Lake Itomori, which appears in the story, is Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture, and the view overlooking Lake Suwa from Takabocchi Plateau has been a hot topic, as it looks like a scene from a movie.
