Sekisaki Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in the prefecture, installed in 1901 (Meiji 34) on the eastern end of the Saganoseki Peninsula in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, facing the Bungo Strait. It is made entirely of iron and is 11 meters tall, making it a rare active iron lighthouse in the country, and was designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2022. It continues to protect the safety of ships sailing through the Bungo Strait, and the surrounding area is famous for camellias and cherry blossoms, and the view is excellent.
