This live camera is installed at the main gate of the Oka Castle Ruins, a nationally designated historic site in Taketa, Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. It is operated by Taketa City Hall.

Approximately 450 cherry trees, including Somei-Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Botanzakura, are planted at the Oka Castle ruins. It has been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots.

Oka Castle is said to have been built in 1185 to welcome Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who was chased by Minamoto no Yoritomo, and is a mountain castle built on Tenjinyama, 325 meters above sea level. It was demolished under the castle abolition order in the Meiji era, and only the stone walls remain today. Mount Aso and the Kuju mountain range can be seen from the high ground of the Oka Castle ruins.
