Basic Information and Access for Kansai International Airport
Kansai International Airport, airport code KIX, is Japan’s first fully artificial-island offshore airport, built about 5 kilometers off the Senshu coast in Osaka Bay. It opened in September 1994 and spans Izumisano City, Tajiri Town, and Sennan City in Osaka Prefecture.
The airport has two runways: Runway A, 3,500 meters, and Runway B, 4,000 meters. It functions as an international hub airport capable of 24-hour operation. Kansai Airports operates the airport, and more than 30 million passengers use its domestic and international routes in a typical year.
Access: From the Namba and Umeda areas, Kansai Airport can be reached in about 50 to 70 minutes by JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service or the Nankai Rapi:t limited express. Access by bus or taxi is also available via the airport access bridge, Sky Gate Bridge R. Parking lots are located near both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and advance reservations are recommended.
