Higashiyoka Coast is a muddy tidal flat that spreads along the Ariake Sea coast in Higashiyoka Town, Saga City, and is famous for the red color of the clusters of Shichimenso, also known as the “autumn leaves of the sea,” in autumn. The tidal flats are home to a variety of creatures such as mudskippers and crabs, and are the number one destination for migratory birds such as shorebirds and plovers in Japan. It was registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland in 2015, and is a spot where you can enjoy nature observation and tidal flats experiences.
