National Route 138 is a general national road starting in Fuji Yoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, passing through Yamanaka-ko Village and Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, and arriving at Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The total length is approximately 60km. It is an important regional tourist route connecting major Japanese tourist destinations such as Mount Fuji, Hakone, and Izu. Caution is required in winter due to snowfall and road icing. In recent years, bypass construction has progressed to alleviate traffic congestion and serve as a detour route during disasters.
