This live camera shows Isonoura Beach in Isonoura, Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. From cameras installed by the Isonoura Beach Management and Operation Committee, you can check three real-time angles: the front of the beach, the swimming area, and Okuiso.

Isonoura is one of the Kansai region’s leading surfing spots and is the closest major surf point to Osaka, attracting surfers throughout the year. It is a natural shallow white-sand beach that stretches for about 1,200 meters, and because the water quality is good, it is also crowded with beachgoers during the summer swimming season. Checking the live camera before heading out is useful for confirming the current wave height and beach crowd conditions.

How to View and Operate the Isonoura Live Camera

The live camera installed at Isonoura Beach is a PTZ camera that lets users remotely switch the camera direction. Click the control button, marked with a plus sign, at the lower right of the video screen to obtain camera control for 30 seconds. Using the preset function, you can switch between the following three angles.

Beach front: check waves and crowding across the whole beach
Swimming area: check how crowded the swimming zone is and whether lifeguard activity is visible
Okuiso: check wave quality at the Okuiso surf point

If another user is already operating the camera, wait a little for the control right to be released. The video can also be viewed and operated from a smartphone.

Isonoura Wave Information and Surf Point Guide

Isonoura is a south-southwest-facing beach break on the Kii Channel and responds to southwest to south swells. Because it is located inside the Seto Inland Sea side, swells do not always reach the beach easily and wave size is often modest, but surfing may still be possible even when the open-ocean coast is closed out. Waves can increase when a typhoon or low-pressure system approaches.

The surf points are divided into four areas from the left, or east side: Tetrapod Front, Main, Nishiiso, and Okuiso. A north-northeast wind is offshore, so conditions are more likely to improve when northerly winds blow. The area can be enjoyed by surfers from beginners to advanced riders, and there are many nearby surf shops and schools offering rental boards.

During the swimming season, the swimming area and surfing area are clearly separated. Checking the live camera for wave height and wind effects before entering the water is recommended.

Access to Isonoura and Parking Information

Access by train
Isonoura Beach is right by Isonoura Station on the Nankai Kada Line. From Osaka Namba Station, it takes about 60 to 70 minutes by transferring between the Nankai Main Line and the Kada Line. It is popular as a beach and surf point that can be reached by train from the Kansai area, and weekends in summer can become crowded.

Access by car
The nearest interchange is Wakayama-kita IC on the Hanwa Expressway. It takes about 15 minutes from the IC to the Marine Park Isonoura parking lot.

Parking
The Marine Park Isonoura parking lot is available for 1,000 yen per day. Facilities include restrooms, free showers, paid hot showers for 300 yen, and changing rooms with coin lockers for 300 yen. In summer, the parking lot may fill from early morning, so checking crowd conditions on the live camera before departure is recommended.

Basic Information and Nearby Spots Around Isonoura Beach

Isonoura Beach is located in northern Wakayama City and has a natural white-sand beach stretching for about 1,200 meters. The water is shallow and the quality is good, making it a beach where families with small children can feel comfortable. The beach also has surf cafes and terrace seating, where visitors can enjoy meals while looking out over the sea.
