Neodani Usuzumi Zakura is one of Japan’s three major cherry blossoms, along with Yamanashi Prefecture’s Yamatakajindaizakura and Fukushima Prefecture’s Miharu Takizakura, and is a nationally designated natural monument. The tree is approximately 1,500 years old, 17.3m tall, and has a trunk diameter of 9.4m. It is said to have been named the light ink cherry tree because it turns a pale ink color when it falls. The best time to see them is usually from early to mid-April.
