Tomine Highland is one of the leading highlands in the Kansai region, with an area of approximately 90 ha and an altitude of 800 to 900 meters, located in Kawakami, Kamikawa Town, Hyogo Prefecture. It is famous for its pampas grass prairie that spreads across the plateau, and is also known as a filming location for movies and TV dramas. The movie Norwegian Wood, the historical drama, Taira no Kiyomori, and “Gunshi Kanbei” were also filmed at Tonomine Kogen.
In autumn, Tonomine Kogen turns golden, and the best time to see the silver grass is usually from late September to early November. Seasonal events are also held here, such as the spring mountain burning and the autumn Silver Grass Festival. Boardwalks and promenades are available, making it ideal for strolling and photography. Please note that roads are closed in winter due to snow accumulation.
