Zenkoji is a non-sectarian Buddhist temple that enshrines the Ikko Sanzon Amida Nyorai, said to be Japan’s oldest hidden Buddha. As it is a non-sectarian temple, it is visited by many worshipers from both Japan and abroad.
From April 3rd (Sunday) to June 29th (Wednesday), 2020, the opening ceremony was held once every seven years. In 2015, the number of worshipers at the time of the opening reached 7 million, and the area around Zenkoji became very crowded.
