Lake Hibarako is the largest volcanic dammed lake in Japan, formed by the eruption of Mt. Bandai in 1888. Located in Kitashiobara Village, Fukushima Prefecture, it is the largest lake in the Urabandai region, with a shoreline of about 37 km and a maximum depth of 31 m. The scenery changes beautifully in every season, and you can enjoy fresh greenery in spring, canoeing in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and smelt fishing in winter. Motorboats and tourist boats are also operated, and you can enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Bandai.
