The Lake Tanukiko live cameras are installed at Lake Tanukiko Campsite in Inokashira, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Five cameras show the A site, B site, south parking lot, north parking lot, and north plaza, letting you check the campsite crowd level, the surface of Lake Tanuki, and Mt. Lake Tanuki is located in the Asagiri Plateau area on the western foot of Mt. Fuji and is famous for its outstanding view of Mt. Fuji across the lake. It is also known nationwide as a viewing and photography spot for Diamond Fuji, a rare scene that appears only a few times a year. In spring you can enjoy cherry blossoms, in summer Genji fireflies, and in autumn colorful foliage. What You Can Check with the Lake Tanukiko Cameras
Lake Tanukiko Campsite has five live cameras on the south and north sides of the lake. Each camera shows a different area, so you can choose the one that matches your purpose.
A Site camera, south tent site: This camera mainly shows the A tent site on the south side of the campsite, with Lake Tanuki and Mt. Fuji in view. On clear days, it is the most useful camera for checking the full view of Mt. Fuji across the lake. In the morning, you may also see an inverted reflection of Mt. Fuji on the water.
B Site camera, south tent site: This camera shows the B tent site next to A Site. It is suitable for checking how many tents are set up and how crowded the overall campsite is, especially before visits during Golden Week, summer vacation, and other busy periods.
South parking lot camera: This camera lets you check parking availability on the south side of Lake Tanuki in real time. During busy periods, the parking lot may become full, so checking before arrival can be helpful.
North parking lot camera: This camera shows the parking lot on the north side of Lake Tanuki. Mt. Fuji is also visible from the north side, making it useful for checking the weather. Comparing it with the south parking lot camera can help you decide which side to enter from.
North plaza camera: This camera shows the plaza area on the north side of the lakeshore. It is often used for day camping and barbecues. If you are planning a day visit, check this camera for the plaza crowd level.
Diamond Fuji at Lake Tanuki and How to Use the Live Cameras
Lake Tanuki is famous nationwide as a viewing and photography spot for Diamond Fuji. Diamond Fuji is the phenomenon in which the sun overlaps the summit of Mt. Fuji and shines like a diamond. At Lake Tanuki, if conditions align, it can be seen from the lakeshore twice a year, in spring and autumn.
The approximate viewing seasons are:
- Spring – Around April 20, at sunrise
- Autumn – From late August to early September, at sunrise
Whether Diamond Fuji can be seen depends on the weather and clouds around the summit of Mt. Fuji. To avoid arriving only to find the mountain hidden, check the Lake Tanukiko live cameras before heading out.
