Shionomisaki Lighthouse is a lighthouse located at Shionomisaki, the southernmost tip of Honshu and the southern tip of the Kii Peninsula. This lighthouse was first lit in 1873 (Meiji 6), and has great historical and cultural value, and has been selected as one of Japan’s top 50 lighthouses. It is open to the public at all times, and you can go up to the observation deck of the lighthouse.
There is also a lighthouse information exhibition room, where the history and functions of lighthouses are introduced.
