Togetsukyo Bridge is a bridge spanning the Katsura River that separates Sagano and Arashiyama in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, and is a representative tourist attraction in Saga Arashiyama. The area around Togetsukyo Bridge is especially crowded in spring and autumn as a famous spot for viewing cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. Togetsukyo Bridge got its name from the Heian period when the retired Emperor Kameyama described the moon moving across the bridge as “resembling the crossing of the moon without a bear.”
