About Tochigi Prefecture
Tochigi Prefecture is an inland prefecture located in northern Kanto, with an area of approximately 6,408 square kilometers and a population of about 1.94 million people. It borders Fukushima, Gunma, Ibaraki, and Saitama Prefectures, and its prefectural capital is Utsunomiya City (with a population of about 510,000).
In Hinjo City in the northern part of the prefecture, there are World Heritage sites such as Hōtō-gū Shrine, Lake Chūzenji, Kegon Falls, and Mt. Bandai, while Nasu Town features Mount Nasu and the Nasu Plateau. Major rivers like the Kinugawa River, Watarase River, Nakagawa River, and Omikawa River flow through the central and southern parts of the prefecture, where many organizations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), have installed live cameras.
